About Us

The Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre Inc. (Food Centre) is a non-profit organization and leader in providing expertise and resources to assist agri-businesses to CREATE innovative products and value-added opportunities in the food industry.

Whether it involves a specific ingredient, commercializing a delicious family recipe or market expansion, the Food Centre has a variety of services to CONNECT you to in order to grow your agri-business. The Food Centre’s line of expertise include food and process development, interim processing, extrusion technology, skills development, food safety education and training, quality assurance, technology transfer and path-finding.

Our services and expertise are enhanced through our networks and partnerships. We COLLABORATE and work together with industry organizations to achieve business benefits for our clients and to grow the agri-food industry.

The Centre’s federal processing facility is Saskatchewan’s only commercial incubation centre for food processing. Let the collective experts and networks of the Food Centre help you successfully COMMERCIALIZE your products. Our objective is to create a clear pathway and reduce your risk.

The Food Centre has established a reputable role in the food industry for R&D of new food concepts, short and long-term processing, extrusion and food safety training. Since inception, the Food Centre has developed over 1,000 products with an estimated 50% introduced into the market. Our staff boasts an impressive 200 plus years of experience in the food industry and many food scientists.

The Food Centre operates several processing facilities with hundreds of different pieces of equipment to manufacture a variety of food products. Our facilities are distributed across 2 locations – our 10,000 square ft. Pilot Plant on the University of Saskatchewan campus and our 63,000+ square ft. Agri-Food Innovation Centre located in Saskatoon’s holiday park industrial area. Both locations have many certifications and offer different processing options for food processors.
